Folder Restores with DIR 2.0

DIR 2.0 has added more functionality especially when combined with single item retention except for the ability to restore users deleted folders. If a user deletes a folder with items in it, we can only restore the items and not the folders WITH the items in it. In 2013, New public folders have the ability but not normal mailboxes.

Delegate Cleanup

When a user leaves the organization and their mailbox and AD account are removed the delegate information get's stuck in the Outlook client and creates errors for the users until it is removed. Is there anyway to make this a function of AD or Exchange so that this removed when a user leaves?

Add RU/CU name to Server Version info

Add the Rollup & Cumulative update version to the Server Version name. Currently when you run Get-ExchangeServer | FT Name, AdminDisplayVersion it just shows the build number which we have to lookup or remember every build number. This would remove the need for extensive scripts that look at registry keys among other things.

OWA App for Android Phones/Tablets

An app like the OWA App for iPhone/iPad, but now for Android devices. No need for ActiveSync and all it's troubles that come with it (for instance: SD encryption sometimes formats the SD with loss of data) and no worries about a complete remote wipe (potentially wiping personal data).

OWA App for Windows Phone

An app like the OWA App for iPhone/iPad, but now for Windows Phone devices. No need for ActiveSync and no worries about a complete remote wipe (potentially wiping personal data).

It also allows for a more Premium experience on WP, compared to the native ActiveSync implementation.

Outlook Client

Prepopulated FROM:

Pre-filled FROM: dropdown listbox in mail composition form (also OWA), using info from delegated / shared mailboxes a.o. (Send-As) to populate. More end-user friendly than typing in the 'from' address (once) or picking entry from GAL (when shown).

Real-time block list support

Exchange 2007/2010 supported the Connection Filtering Agent on the Hub Transport role. This agent is not available on the Exchange 2013 CAS and Mailbox roles.

This means we can't use real-time block lists on Exchange 2013 servers. Which is a shame because RBL's have proven to be a great measurement against spam.

Mobile Device Cleanup

Mobile devices connecting to Exchange is the way of the future yet most of the time when we get new devices the old one stays in the list. I have a powershell script to clean these up, but it would be nice if this could be automated through Exchange.

PAL tool treshold file for Exchange 2013

PAL (http://pal.codeplex.com/) is the best tool to assist with Exchange performance issues. The tool helps with the creation of performance monitor counter logs and analyzing the logs against a threshold file. Unfortunately there's no threshold file for Exchange 2013 and the author of the 2010 versions doesn't respond to email. It would be great if the Exchange Team could support this, the tool is just as valuable as ...more »

More control over Out of Office reply

You have Inside and Outside Organization and you can even enable that only (outside) contacts receive an OOF reply. I would like a little bit more control over that, for instance by by white or blacklisting (external) contacts, so that they will or will not receive an OOF reply. Also the ability sending an OOF reply for external addresses only when you do not have them as a contact. It's reasonable to assume that contacts ...more »

Enhanced Retention Policies

At the moment Retention Policies are only triggered on their retention age. Enhancing it with additional regular expressions (like transport/mail rules) will help manage the mailbox. For instance: Mail to archive when retention age is 90 days, unless object has attachment the mail is moved to archive when retention age is 45 days. (In my own mailbox, I move certain mails via a rule to a folder which has a specific retention ...more »

Calendar improvement

We host our Exchange and Lync community calls and send the invites out via DL’s. Generally this has been good and a major improvement over trying to maintain the list of invitees within the event itself. However, it’s far from perfect, people end up with old/stale invites, don’t get updates, get forward the invite so never receive updates etc. The solution, to my mind, is a calendar that people subscribe to – that way ...more »
